A+Musics+Purpose

The second you walk into a classroom, the first words you hear are, “Put your phones away and take the AirPods out of your ears,” But the teachers don’t know that when a student pulls those AirPods out, it’s also taking away the one thing that students can find comfort in. Look around; almost everyone has headphones in with different songs playing. The lyrics of songs pull a listener in; it can comfort a student in their situation. The music represents their life, interests, and hobbies, and simply allows them to relax from the stress and pressure of the real world.

Music can create an atmosphere for students to focus on their work and help them destress. It motivates you and sets a positive mood. It can inspire struggling students to create new ideas. The benefits of music can go on forever and can be crucial for students. The lyrics playing into a teenager’s ears give them the freedom to express who they are or desire to become as a form of self-expression. Music helps heal because everyone has their situations, and song lyrics can serve as a guide, especially in an environment like school, where it can make students feel uncomfortable or out of place. Music can serve as a way for teenagers to have freedom in themselves and escape to a world made just for them.

Incidence, a music therapy and technology firm, is doing its part to try and heal the world through music. Their studies have shown a notable meaning music has in teenagers’ lives. It allows teenagers to feel like they’re heard, and lyrics written by certain artists will enable them to do so. Teachers, parents, and adults continue asking, “Why are those AirPods so important?” Those AirPods don’t just play music; they open the door of peace. This plays a massive role in the development and growth of a teenager. Lyrics playing on repeat can fill in for the place of a guide in one’s life, as the lyrics can spread a message to the world.

Most importantly, music helps cope; lyrics can directly resemble your situation, playing a more significant role than anything else. If someone feels lost or disregarded by their family or friends, they can use music as their personalized support system. It can make them realize that others are not alone and are going through the same thing. To some people, music is just something to listen to in the car, but to others, it mends their scars and strengthens their voice.
