How does technology help?

Kai Arellano, Graphic Designer

There are many upcoming writers today within our district. There are many different things technology can do for writers but how does it help?

Colette Reed

Q: Do you use Google Docs?

A: I do use google docs, and I like it because it keeps all my work in one place and you can share documents so it is easy to get feedback on my writing.

Q: Has school influenced your writing?

A: I think school has influenced my writing a bit, but not a ton because I learned a few great tips on sentence structure and story variation, but school doesn’t play a big role in any of my stories and I am a mostly self-taught writer.

Q: Do you use Grammarly? How does it help you?

A: I don’t use Grammarly. I’ve tried it in the past and it didn’t really fit with how I like to write.

Q: Do you use Google Docs?

A: Google docs is definitely my program of choice for writing online.

Q: Has school influenced your writing?

A: School has definitely made me a better writer in the grammar department, showing me how to make coherent sentences and such, but it hasn’t helped me in my personal writing endeavors. (Plot, how to develop characters, etc. It has helped me with creating a setting, but that is, unfortunately, it.)

Q: Do you use Grammarly? How does it help you?

A: I do use Grammarly, but my book is so long I cannot use it there… But the school work and smaller works of mine, including poetry and conceptual writing, Grammarly is a very important tool. I definitely think it is critical for every student and writer; especially me because I am terrible at grammar.

Q: Has school influenced your writing?

A: The school has helped me solidify my understanding of literary works and has helped me in terms of grammar, but I would not say it has helped my writing style. That I had to develop on my own, which is not a bad thing, but I feel like all we do in school is learn how to write formal works, like essays. I believe that every type of skill when it comes to writing should be taught. Especially in creative writing because it is a type of imagination that is found nowhere on earth. I personally would love for there to be a creative writing class to help people develop a story, to learn of character design, world building, and plot maneuvering. A creative writing class would be a godsend!
