Gabriel Leppo:

What branch of the military are you joining?

United States Marine Corps

What training or preparation have you already undergone?

For physical training, I’m running 3-5 miles 4 days a week, doing calisthenics and attending the recruiting stations weekly “PT’s”. Body weight exercises are an essential must. As far as preparation, I’m going to bed early (9pm) and waking up early (5am), from what I’ve heard, the adjustment to the sleep cycle will make or break you.

When and where do you begin your service?

I will begin my service at MCRD, San Diego on July 9th.

What attracted you to the military branch you selected?

All the branches will offer you the same things as far as tangible advantages i.e. Education, Travel, Health and Benefits ect.. What the Marine Corps offers is extraordinary. I believe the hardships I will overcome during my time in the Marine Corps will advance me to feats that other branches simply couldn’t offer.

Why should other LBHS students consider a similar choice?

Unfortunately, a Military route is often overlooked especially at Laguna Beach High School. It is really a great route that is compatible with college. The opportunity the military can offer if you play your cards right is priceless. It’s definitely a very commendable option for someone that wants an extraordinary experience. I’m very fortunate to have been educated about the Marine Corps by my great recruiter: Sgt. Schaefer.

“The Marine Corps is a military branch that has been around for over 242 years. With that, the Marine Corps has built a reputation for excellence as an amphibious fighting force that continues to defend this country during times of war and times or peace. With peacetime, humanitarian aid is the main focus as well as being prepared for any challenges that we may face in the future. If you feel you have what it takes, please reach out to Sgt. Schaefer. 949-734-9748” – Sergeant Schaefer U

SMC.

United States Marine Corps

What training or preparation have you already undergone?

My training and preparation consists of a lot of running and a lot of calisthenics workouts and lots of mental preparation for the future.

When and where do you begin your service?

I begin recruit training at MCRD

San Diego in the beginning of July.

What attracted you to the military branch you selected?

I chose The United States Marine Corps because my Grandfather, Father, and Older brother all have served or serve in the USMC. I also believe that only a select amount people have what it takes to become a Marine unlike the other branches.

Why should other LBHS students consider a similar choice?

Other LBHS students should consider taking this path if they are interested in being apart of something greater than themselves and being apart of a brotherhood that lasts forever. If anyone is interested contact Sergeant Schaefer at (949)-734-9748.

LARSEN MCCARROLL:

What branch of the military are you joining?

I will be joining the United States Air Force.

What training or preparation have you already undergone?

I have undergone many tests and training exercises to hopefully be ready for the Air Force Academy. I had a surgery last January to fix my ACL and MCL tear in my knee in order to be eligible for the Air Force.

What attracted you to the military branch you selected?

I have always loved flying and engineering, which are two of the greatest opportunities given to cadets at the Air Force.

Why should other LBHS students consider a similar choice?

LBHS students should seek a higher education in a disciplined fashion. It will set them up for

success in their professional careers in the best way possible.
