The energy at this year’s homecoming week was magical, as the Harry Potter theme brought the school to life. The theme had everyone excited, as there were many fun activities throughout the week that reflected the mystical feeling. From Monday to Friday, the Breakers came to school wearing their best spirit week attire outfits that represented the daily theme. As the week continued, Breakers got more excited for the Friday pep rally. The rally featured fantastic dances from our Dance Company, Cheer Team, K-Pop group, and even the football team. With fun grade games and homecoming court dances, this pep rally was one of the best. Finally, Friday night arrived; a time that most students had been waiting for all year: the homecoming football game. The Breakers pulled off a huge win, making the night even more enjoyable.
There was a high level of school participation throughout Spirit Week. Monday was common room pajamas day, Tuesday was Triwizard jersey day, Wednesday was Weasley twin day, Thursday was Dementor (all black) day, and Friday was class colors day. Each day brought out creative outfits, fun, and lots of photos. It was clear that students loved showing off their school spirit and getting into the Hogwarts-inspired fun.
Students brought the energy to the pep rally on Friday. With lots of preparation, our ASB planned a fun and exciting rally for everyone to enjoy. Everyone proudly showed off their class colors in the gym to cheer on their class during the Clash of Classes games. There were impressive performances by the cheer team, dance company, K-pop group, and the football team, which had the crowd cheering and laughing throughout. The homecoming court dances, during which each couple danced to encourage people to vote for them for homecoming queen and king, made everyone very entertained. It was a highly successful pep rally filled with a lot of great energy.
The Wave Cave was packed on Friday night with students, families, faculty, and the band cheering on our football team. The team achieved a huge win of 42-0 against Northwood, bringing their season record to 6-0. There were amazing performances by both the LBHS cheer team and students from every grade. During halftime, there was the homecoming court ceremony on the field, and Brooke Scheinder (12) and Teddy Hacket (12) were crowned Homecoming queen and king. The crowd loved every moment, and the night became even more special when each grade performed its own dance that correlated to the Harry Potter theme. The freshmen represented Hufflepuff, the sophomores represented Ravenclaw, the juniors represented Gryffindor, and finally, the seniors represented Slytherin.
The homecoming dance, which took place Saturday night, wrapped up the week perfectly. The quad was transformed into a magical space, complete with decorations, food, games, and lights. There was a photobooth, a great DJ, and kids were dancing all night with their friends. It was a huge success and a great end to a fantastic homecoming week.
This year’s Harry Potter-themed homecoming week truly brought the school together. Between the spirited outfits, the loud pep rally, the big football win, and the unforgettable dance, students created memories that will last long after the week ended. It was a reminder of how much pride and excitement the Breaker community can bring when everyone gets involved. It proved once again that homecoming is one of the best times of the year at LBHS.
