Mr. Burnz, a substitute teacher by day and an aspiring rapper by night, captivated the audience during his spectacular performance at the 2025 Brush and Palette Talent Show. His story is one of passion, perseverance, versatility, and much more that is yet to be uncovered.
talent show, where Mr. Burnz delivered, perhaps one of the best performances of the night, he stole the spotlight with an energy that could only come from someone truly in their element. “Since I came out of the womb, my earliest memory of music is being in love with it.” Mr. Burnz’s passion and love for music help motivate him to make unforgettable performances. His rap performance was a mesmerizing display of lyrical skill, rhythmic flow, and storytelling. The crowd, full of students and teachers alike, cheered him on as he effortlessly blended his personal experiences into his lyrics, leaving everyone in awe. For many, it was a side of Mr Burnz that they had never experienced before that night.

In addition to being a rapper, Mr. Burnz is a dedicated substitute teacher at LBHS. While his role as a substitute teacher is fulfilling, Burnz is also dedicated to his music career. “I teach for the school day, pick up my kids, and then it’s right back to music after they’re asleep”
As an up-and-coming rapper, he has been honing his craft for years, performing locally and steadily building a following.
“I started writing songs in 7th grade, which helped. Somebody empowered me and told me you don’t have to just like music; you could write your own.”
His lyrics are deeply personal, touching on themes of perseverance, self-expression, and both the challenges and rewards of balancing multiple pursuits in life.
“I’ve always had a love for music; being a person with ADD, it grounds me” Burnz said “Music has been a way for me to express my emotions and my experiences, and being a substitute teacher has only deepened my appreciation for the power of connection, whether through a lesson or a rap.”
Mr. Burnz’s music blends rap and hip-hop, crafting tracks that not only entertain but also offer insight into the human experience. He draws inspiration from his own life, using his lyrics to tell stories of resilience, growth, and community. As he continues to pursue his musical career, Burnz remains focused on staying true to himself and his message.
Perhaps the most impressive thing about Mr. Burnz is how he manages to balance his responsibilities as a teacher, musician, and dedicated father. Mr. Burnz explains how “Music takes the space in my brain a lot.” As we know, it’s not easy work to juggle the responsibilities that parenthood requires while also taking the time to weave complex thoughts together in his music. As Mr.Burnz puts it, the best way to balance two worlds is to “Go 200 percent”.
However, Burnz makes it work by staying organized and maintaining a strong sense of purpose. In the future, Burnz hopes to continue growing both as an educator and an artist. He’s working on new music, with plans to release more tracks soon. As for his teaching, he remains dedicated to encouraging students to express themselves and reach their full potential
