Meet Ms. Paulino, Laguna's New English Teacher

At the beginning of this school year, Laguna Beach High School introduced new teachers. One of them is Ms. Paulino, who is now teaching English nine & 11. She attended the University of Oregon, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in English. She later went to Azusa Pacific University and earned her Master’s in Learning and Technology.

She has always aspired to be a teacher since she was little; she and her sister would make “worksheets” for her sister to do and pretend to teach on the whiteboard she had. Ms. Paulino’s mom is a teacher, her mom’s friends are teachers, and her family friends are teachers; therefore, she has always been surrounded by what she loves doing now.

While this is her first year at Laguna Beach High School, she has taught at several other schools. “Last year I taught at Don Juan Avila Middle School in Aliso Viejo and taught seventh grade,” said Paulino.

She also taught at a few Capistrano Unified School District high schools. She also was at San Clemente High School with seniors and then taught third graders online during the pandemic.

“I think making connections with students and going to support them outside of school like going to sports and performances is my favorite part,” said Paulino.

The most rewarding part of teaching for Ms. Paulino is supporting her students and being there for them; she thoroughly enjoys watching them succeed and getting to know her students. She is also the freshman class Associated Student Body advisor and is super excited to lead them!

“I hope to make a fun, inviting, and supportive environment, my goal is to make sure everyone has a chance to succeed and I hope I can help them do that,” said Paulino.

Ms. Paulino hopes to make a safe environment for her students and to make sure they enjoy coming to class. She provides positive energy and always has a good attitude with her students. This is such an important part of who she is and it truly makes a huge impact on the students in her classes.

“I love reading thriller or mystery books, I love pilates, and I like to go to the beach,” said Paulino. “If I could get dinner with anyone I would probably choose Margot Robbie; she’s gorgeous and I love her accent.” Those are just some of the fun facts about what Ms. Paulino likes to do in her free time.
