Laguna Beach has just opened a center dedicated to community and recreation. It is located in the building next to Ruby’s Diner where the St. Mary’s school once was, and if you are interested in starting a new hobby or sport, this is the perfect place to get a jump start. They offer an array of classes that will help you improve on skills.
The most exciting part of this addition is its newly installed skate park. The skate ramps are located in the quart yard, right in front of the main classroom building. These skate ramps will be used for city-sponsored classes and camps, as well as allowing for free skate time during limited daytime hours.
Exploring the other various classes they offer here, they teach things like dance, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, water polo, and soccer. If you want to take a less athletic approach they offer classes on dog training, music, emergency prep, and many more!
Other than scheduled classes, they have facilities that are not only available but free to anyone interested in going. Within the recreational center, they have basketball courts, a playground, an indoor gymnasium, and volleyball courts. These all have individual free time hours that you can find listed below…
- Drop-in Pickleball is Mondays from 8:30 – 11:00 a.m.
- Drop-in Basketball is Wednesdays from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Skate Ramps are open on weekdays from 2:00 – 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
If you want to utilize these facilities, this summer would be the best time to pay the center a visit. The Recreation Center is the perfect place to build or start new hobbies; it’s a fun and inexpensive way to spend your free time. If you don’t want to waste away your summer on a phone, instead use that time to build your extracurriculars and discover new passions.
