The Boston Celtics: (Current Record 4-0)
Underrated Fantasy Player: Derrick White is averaging 15 points per game and is 77% rostered and 27% start( via. Sleeper). His best game was his second game against the Miami Heat, where he had six rebounds and scored 28 points on five made three-pointers (31.50 fantasy points).
Positives: A team that has made a bunch of trades this year and came up big is the Celtics. Boston was able to acquire Kristaps Porzingis from the Washington Wizards. They also traded for Jrue Holiday as their new starting point guard and received multiple picks for the players they traded away. Because of these moves, the Celtics significantly improved their starting lineup and have an increased chance of going to the Finals. Their best player is Jayson Tatum (Image 1) who is averaging 29.8 points this year and was last year’s All-Star MVP. Boston lost to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals and hope to break their tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most Finals by an NBA team (17).
Negatives: The Celtics lost many picks as well as many role and bench players like Marcus Smart, Danilo Gallinari, Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Willams III, Grant Willams, and Mike Muscala.
The Millawuake Bucks: (Current Record 3-2)
Underrated Fantasy Player: Khris Middleton is averaging 5.5 points per game; he is 86% rostered and 37% started him (via. Sleeper). He did miss his second game against the Hawks, and his best game was against the Philadelphia 76ers (12.50 fan points).
Positives: One of the most exciting teams in the NBA right now, the Bucks decided to “go big or go home” when they acquired Damian Lillard (Image 2) as their new starting point guard in a trade with the Blazers and Suns. This blockbuster trade gave Millawuake precisely what they needed to boost their chances of a Finals appearance.
Negatives: The Bucks lost a fan favorite in Jrue Holiday, who has two All-Star appearances, including one last year. They also lost Grayson Allen, a solid player, as well as a first-round pick and two second-round picks. They lost to the Heat in the first round last year, so they hope to bounce back this year with Dame.
The Denver Nuggets (Current Record 5-1)
Underrated Fantasy Player: Michael Porter Jr is averaging 12 points per game; he is 88% rostered and 70% started him (via. Sleeper). His best game was against the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he had nine rebounds and 20 points on four made three-pointers(22.00 fantasy points).
Positives: The Nuggets didn’t do much this offseason besides re-signing their bench point guard Reggie Jackson. But for the Nuggets, it doesn’t matter as much since they won the NBA Finals last year in five games against the Miami Heat. The Nuggets hope to get their team’s first back-to-back championship win this year. Their best player, Nikola Jokic (Image 3), is on a pace to break the all-time triple-double record (currently 211 by Russel Westbrook) and is now tied at 4th place with Lebron James and Jason Kidd with 107 in his career.
Negatives: The Nuggets lost players like Bruce Brown, Thomas Bryant, and Jeff Green to free agency. Bruce Brown is the most significant loss, as he has been putting up big numbers as a Pacer.
The Golden State Warriors(Current Record 5-1)
Underrated Fantasy Player: Chris Paul is averaging 8 points per game; he is 87% rostered and 58% started him (via. Sleeper). His best game was against the Sacramento Kings, where he had a double-double, 12 points scored, and 12 assists (23.00 Fantasy Points).
Positives: The Warriors got 12-time All-Star CP3 from the Washington Wizards. They also signed Dario Saric, who will be a valuable bench player. In February, they were involved in a four-team trade, which ended in acquiring Gary Payton II.
Negatives: The team did lose a fan favorite in Jordan Poole, though, who was traded to the Wizards for Chris Paul (Image 4). Last year, Poole averaged roughly 19 points during the regular season. Last year, the Warriors came up short in 6 games against the Los Angeles Lakers. However, two years ago, they did go all the way and won the team’s seventh championship.
The Miami Heat (Current Record 2-4)
Underrated Fantast Player: Tyler Herro is averaging 25.8 points per game; he is 95% rostered and 81% started him ( via. Sleeper). His best game was against the Wizards, where he had a double-double, two steals, ten rebounds, nine assists, and 24 points (35.00 Fantasy Points).
Positives: The Heat didn’t do much this offseason besides gaining Josh Richardson and Thomas Bryant and re-singing Kevin Love. The main positive for the Heat has been Herro (Image 6) as he was going to be traded, but he has been playing amazingly ever since (two 30-points or more games). The Heat are very underrated, as they proved last year by beating the 1st seed Bucks and going on to the NBA Finals. Although the Heat lost, it was still amazing to watch a team that was very bad in the regular season (8th seed) beat every team in their path and make it to the Finals. Miami hopes to go back again and end their current championship drought.
Negatives: The main problem for the Heat was that they were going to trade for the Blazer’s star point guard, Damian Lillard, who said that he wanted to play for Miami. Instead, he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, leaving the whole team sad (including Jimmy Butler, who dressed up as Emo/Image 5). Aside from that, the Heat also lost to helpful role players Gabe Vincent and Max Strus.
