The Dallas Cowboys are an exciting American football team and are looking to break their losing streak in the playoffs. In the NFL, the Cowboys have been known to perform very well at their home games in Arlington, Texas, but are also exceptional on the road. However, they seem to always come up short in the playoffs.
The Cowboys could point fingers at certain players, coaches, or other higher positions. But, of the 35 playoff appearances, they have come up short 26 times. With five Super Bowl wins, the Boys in Blue have been a dominant force; however, they haven’t taken a title home since 1996. The Cowboys hold a league record for having the highest win percentage in the regular season with a whopping 57.4%. That is surprising because they only have four playoff wins since 2004. There are multiple reasons why this year looks better than other years for Dallas, but the most important is that on September 10, 2023, the Cowboys blew out the Giants 40-0. In this divisional matchup, the Cowboys were able to score on offense, defense, and special teams, a stat that has not occurred since, 37 years ago. In week two, America’s team was able to cruise to an easy 30-10 win over the Jets. Although it was a big win against a good team, the Jets are still without Aaron Rodgers, who went down in week one with an injury. Had he been there, it may have been a closer game. Dallas is known for having some of the best players in the NFL, including the likes of: Micah Parsons (LB), CeeDee Lamb (WR), Tony Pollard (RB), Trevon Diggs (CB), Zach Martin (RG) KaVontae Turpin (PR/KR) are arguably all top 5 or higher at their respective positions. The football team out of Arlington, Texas is in the NFC East Division and was founded in 1960. Their head coach is Mike McCarthy with Jerry Jones as the owner/general manager.
Zealan Munsey a born and raised Cowboys fan explained, “While we tend to have a high-powered offense and a top-tier defense we seem to fold in the pressures of the playoffs, which is usually attributed to questionable coaching decisions.” Another fan of the Cowboys since, birth, Wesley Van Horn speaks on how they are “off to a 2-o start and both of them have been blowouts.” Also, “Micah Parsons has much more experience in the league now, and Dak sucks, but he has everything he needs to get it done.” An anonymous sports enthusiast and Cowboys hater had some things to say about the new team: “They keep bragging all season about how it is their year and then they choke in the playoffs,” which “happens every year.” They even added that all of their new players are “just a desperate attempt to sign new players” as well as saying that with rookies they have to train them and “they won’t win with a new team.”
Another reason why Dallas is looking to improve is they have gotten rid of Ezekiel Elliot, which helps to improve their younger running back Tony Pollard. They made three key signings by trading for: a new young backup quarterback in Trey Lance; wide receiver Brandin Cooks to help increase their receiving core; and the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore to aid their cornerback room. Gilmore was able to make an immediate impact in their first game against the Giants by snagging an interception and taking it back for a score (a pick-six). In week two, the Cowboys’ new undrafted kicker was able to make all five of his field goal attempts and largely contributed to the win. Brandon Aubrey was able to hit a 55-yard field goal and dropped 18 Fantasy Points, which is very impressive for a rookie. The Cowboys will hope that he can keep rolling along this way and contribute to a successful playoff run.
Dallas also did very well in their draft as they were able to take Mazi Smith (DT) from the University of Michigan in the first round. They were also able to snag 5’5” Deuce Vaughn (RB) in the 6th round from the Kansas State Wildcats.
