Alumni Nolan McConnell Q&A
Q: What year did you graduate LBHS?
A: 2012
Q: What have you been up to between graduation to now?
A: After graduation, I attended Long Beach State University and played water polo. After my college experience I was lucky enough to travel through my sport. I got to go to places like Australia, China, Montenegro.. and other parts of the world. Now that my playing career has slowed down I am starting my coaching and teaching career.
Q: How have you stayed in touch with LBHS before taking on your new official role? (teachers you’ve been in contact with… different jobs or roles you’ve filled, etc.)
A: One way I have stayed in contact with LBHS after graduating is through the water polo program. Playing here for this school and city has always been something that I have held near and dear to my heart. Staying connected with the coaching staff has enabled me to be around the sport that I love.
Q: What are your plans for this year regarding LBHS/Job/Official Role?
A: My plans regarding my official role are to lead by example and connect with the students and players.
Q: What has changed at LBHS since you were a student here?
A: I think quite a bit has changed in a short span of time here at LBHS. One thing that stands out to me is the connection amongst the students and staff. It might be hard for students to see this now but if you go back 10 years I think this is something that would stand out to students today.
Q: How will your new role assist your long-term goals in life?
A: My new role is assisting my long term goals in multiple ways. Together, coaching and teaching are improving my work relations, team building skills, and behavior management techniques.
